Overview

The CAPM is PMI's entry-level certification. It tests project management fundamentals, predictive and agile methods, and business analysis. It needs a secondary school qualification and 23 hours of project management education.

On test day

Identification

Valid, unexpired government-issued ID with English (Roman) characters or an official translation, a photo and a signature.

How to book

Exam seats for CAPM are booked and paid on the test owner's own system. Delivered through: Pearson VUE.

    Apply on pmi.org, pay, then schedule with Pearson VUE at a test centre or online.

    Create or sign in to your account on the official booking site.

  3. 3

    Choose your exam, then a test centre, date and time.

  4. 4

    Pay the exam fee to the test owner and keep your confirmation email.

  5. 5

    Check the ID rules and arrive early on test day.

You book and pay in your Pearson VUE account. Rescheduling deadlines (often 24–48 hours) and fees are set by each exam programme.

GAPICT cannot take bookings for this exam. Exam seats are booked and paid on the test owner's system.

Do I need work experience?
No. You need a secondary school diploma or equivalent and 23 hours of project management education.
Is there a break?
Yes, one 10-minute break after question 75. You cannot go back to earlier questions after it.
Does CAPM help with the PMP?
Yes. An active CAPM waives the PMP's 35-hour training requirement.
